“It’s similar, as far as talent and ability, both are all-time GREATS,” Davante Adams claims Derek Carr is as GREAT as Aaron Rodgers

“It’s similar, as far as talent and ability, both are all-time GREATS,” Davante Adams claims Derek Carr is as GREAT as Aaron Rodgers

Davante Adams is no longer a Green Bay Packer, he left the organization that traded him in order to move on to the Las Vegas Raiders, where he has been reunited with his trusted college quarterback with whom he had one heck of a season in 2013. Derek Carr and Adams have amazing chemistry and there have been many factors that resulted in his decision to move on from the Packers. The team did not want to pay him his worth as the quarterback market in terms of the salary cap is massive and given Aaron Rodger’s uncertainty, the wideout is not comfortable dealing with it.

In his recent press conference and one of the first as a Raider following the team’s minicamp, Davante Adams spoke about his relationship with his former quarterback Aaron Rodgers and he also revealed that another reason that he opted to join the Raiders is due to the fact that Derek Carr and Rodgers are both very similar in terms of talent and ability. Yes, he really did say that. Davante believes that both quarterbacks are on the same level of greatness.

“I’m keeping it real, a lot of similarities”: Davante Adams speaks on Derek Carr being the same as Aaron Rodgers

The wide receiver spoke highly of his former Fresno State quarterback who almost won the Heismann that year and in addition to that, Davante himself was just 11 yards short of getting the triple crown for a WR in 2013. “As far as talent and ability, It’s really similar, if I’m keeping it real, they throw the ball a lot different. Derek’s gonna fire it in there, and you gonna know that thing’s coming quick.” Davante spoke on Carr’s ability to throw passes like a bullet.

Coming to Rodgers’ talent of throwing the ball, Adams had this to say “Aaron’s got the ability to tighten that core up and flick the ball to you. So the release is a lot different, but being able to get the ball to you late, if they see you coming out of a break, not many quarterbacks can get it to you before you get to the sideline if you’re outside the numbers already. Having two guys like that with really strong arms, and understanding the game, the mental part of it, is another similarity that they have. They both obsess over it and they know everything that’s going on out there.”

All in all, Davante spoke highly of them both, he believes that they both are generational talents and their on-field awareness is off the charts. Carr had a 4,000+ passing yard season with 428 completions and a berth in the playoffs. The Raiders have not made playoffs in over five years, Carr has been there for the last 8 seasons and he is already the all-time leader for the team in passing yards, completions, and touchdowns.

But as is with every quarterback, his legacy will be determined by a playoff victory and a Super Bowl run. Davante Adams as his top receiver should definitely improve his chances of achieving this feat, especially considering that he lost a durable WR in Henry Ruggs following his tragic DUI incident.

Tae Adams was not done there, he adds, “Lot of similarities, but much different, and I think Derek is in a position where he’s chasing to be one of those all-time greats like that, which is, not a slight on Derek whatsoever; I wouldn’t be here if I was slighting Derek,” speaking on the similarities between both his quarterbacks. Speaking about his own greatness, Davante Adams brushes off all the comparisons to elite wideouts such as Jerry Rice as of yet, he humbly mentions, “We’ll see when it’s all said and done or after some more time.”
