The San Francisco 49ers (8-3) will travel to Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday, December 3, for the late kickoff against the Philadelphia Eagles (10-1). It’s a rematch of last season’s NFC Championship game, which the 49ers lost.

To their credit, the Eagles are on a five-game winning streak and will need some power to stop them. However, compared to last year, most of their victories have been narrow wins. One great example would be the Buffalo Bills game, which they could have lost if Josh Allen had connected with Gabe Davis. Then there was the Chiefs game, in which they scraped past due to several fumbles by Kansas players.

On the other hand, the 49ers seemed to have rediscovered their early-season winning momentum after losing three straight games. Their asset is undoubtedly their offense. Philadelphia needs to be wary because San Francisco will have a full-strength squad after a while. The biggest fear should be keeping Christian McCaffrey quiet as much as possible. He has been electrifying, to say the least, securing 11 touchdowns and being 61 shy of 1,000 rushing yards.

Why can the Philadelphia Eagles win?

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is in the running for the NFL MVP award, and there’s a good reason behind it. He is one of the few QBs in the league who can be considered a dual threat. Not only has he had 18 passing touchdowns, but Hurts has also run the ball 11 times over the endzone (the most by any QB in 2023).

Hurts will be on the hunt for his #1 receiver, AJ Brown, and also DeVonta Smith, with whom he has an 11-3 TD-INT ratio. But Brown has been quite consistent for a few games, combining for just 111 yards. Tight end Dallas Goedert has taken his place. Philadelphia has one of the best-run defenses in the league that can overpower any opposition.

Why can the San Francisco 49ers win?

In three games since their bye week, the 49ers have won by a margin of 31, 13, and 18 points. Although McCaffrey’s rushing touchdown streak came to an end, his red-hot form will keep the Eagles’ defense on their toes.

Then there’s Brock Purdy, who continues to prove the doubters wrong. The second-year quarterback is just under 250 yards shy of reaching 3,000 passing yards in 2023. He has 19 touchdowns and thrown only six picks, with a passer rating of 112.6.
