“He’ll do very well without Tyreek Hill” Chris Broussard believes Patrick Mahomes won’t be affected despite losing his best receiver
Patrick Mahomes, Chris Broussard and Tyreek Hill
The devastating duo of Patrick Mahomes and Tyreek Hill can no longer torture NFL defenses as the Kansas City Chiefs recently agreed to send Hill to the Miami Dolphins. Despite being so dangerous with Kansas City, Chris Broussard believes losing Hill won’t be an issue for Mahomes.
Patrick Mahomes and Tyreek Hill have been one of the most lethal duos in the NFL. Hill played two seasons in the league with Alex Smith as his quarterback but really took off when Mahomes began throwing him the ball. The two have combined for 331 completions for 4638 yards and 42 touchdowns in just 5 seasons.
Despite being on a winning team, Tyreek Hill wanted to be the highest-paid receiver in the NFL. He saw Davante Adams’ contract and wanted to beat it on ‘every level’ and the Chiefs could only offer him something that made him one of the highest-paid receivers. With that, Hill wanted out and Kansas City decided to cash in on him rather than lose him for nothing in free agency.
They got 5 picks from the Dolphins including a first-rounder in this year’s draft. So, they definitely got good value for him but many wonder if Patrick Mahomes will be hurt by losing his best weapon. Chris Broussard certainly doesn’t think that will be the case.
Chris Broussard isn’t worried about how Patrick Mahomes will fare without Tyreek Hill
On a segment of Fox Sports’ ‘First Things First’, Chris Broussard was quoted saying “Patrick Mahomes is not getting exposed. There is no chance that Patrick Mahomes will not play well without Tyreek Hill. He might not do what he did with Hill but, he’s legitimately a great quarterback, Tyreek Hill or not.”
Broussard further added “He’s still got good receivers in Mecole Hardman, Juju Smith Schuster, they signed Marquez Valdes-Scantling and not to mention Travis Kelce. So, he’ll do very well without Tyreek Hill. In 5 games without Tyreek he’s been phenomenal. So, Patrick Mahomes isn’t going anywhere.”
The sample size certainly is small but Patrick Mahomes has produced without Tyreek Hill in the past. It definitely will be different now but the Chiefs will also change the way they run their offense. This won’t be the same offense we’ve seen in the past but it may well be a very good one nonetheless because Patrick Mahomes is still at the helm.
