“I got his a**”: Shady McCoy recalls Tom Brady’s reaction after defeating Drew Brees in his last career game
Tom Brady and Drew Brees
Tom Brady is the most talked-about NFL player in the whole world. The 44-year-old quarterback has broken too many records to count and has set some unbreakable records as well. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB had a long-standing rivalry against former New Orleans Saints QB, Drew Brees. Both the quarterbacks are considered as the NFL’s most prolific passers.
The regular season Saints have been Brady’s ‘kryptonite’ during his Tampa Bay tenure. The Saints have defeated Tom Brady and the Buccaneers in the last year’s regular-season games and this season’s games as well. The Saints managed to shut Tom Brady out for the first time in 15 years. Former Saints QB Drew Brees holds the NFL record for the most consecutive starts without being shut out (304).
Tom Brady is the best leader I’ve ever seen”: McCoy on his former Bucs teammate
Brady’s former Buccaneers’ teammate, RB LeSean McCoy shared an interesting tidbit about Brady and Brees from last season in an interview with the I Am Athlete podcast. So after losing to the Saints twice during the 2020 season, Brady came back to defeat Brees and the Saints in the NFC Divisional Round and he wasn’t shy about showing the enthusiasm of his dominance over Brees.
“Tom is out there throwing with Brees’ kids. Kissing babies”, shared McCoy. After defeating Drew Brees in his last career game, Brady was seen having a chat with Brees on the field after the game. Brady even played some catch with Brees’ son in the endzone.
McCoy recalls what Brady said in the locker room after defeating Brees and the Saint — “We get back to the locker room, Tom goes, ‘I got his ass! Let’s go! Sit his ass down!’ and we were all like, ‘ohhhh!’” The former Bucs running back praised Brady and said that despite achieving more than any player in NFL history ever has, Brady is still hungry for more, and this hunger of Brady is contagious to everybody around him and that’s what makes him great. “He the best teammate, competitor, and leader I’ve ever seen in my life.”
Tom Brady and the Buccaneers are all set to face the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card game on Sunday Night at Raymond James Stadium.
