After 5 seasons in Pittsburgh, Juju Smith-Schuster now finds himself playing with Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City. The young receiver recently signed a 1-year deal to play alongside Tyreek Hill and co.

In his 5 seasons with the Steelers, Juju Smith-Schuster racked up 323 receptions for 3855 yards and 26 touchdowns. His best year by far was 2018 when he was the team’s leader in receptions(111) and yards(1426) as he played in the number 2 role behind Antonio Brown. At that time, Brown was one of the best receivers in the NFL so naturally, Smith-Schuster took advantage of defenses not giving him all the attention.

Since then, Smith-Schuster has been the Steelers’ number 1 target and has not fared well. He hasn’t had a season over 900 yards in the past 3 but perhaps a bigger issue is that he hasn’t been able to start for a full season as injuries have been a major problem. That’s partly why he isn’t remaining in Pittsburgh.

Regardless, Juju Smith-Schuster will be a Kansas City Chief and he recently let the fans know how excited he is about that.

The Chiefs recently tweeted a video of Juju Smith-Schuster in which he said “Just touched down in KC. Let’s get it Chiefs Kingdom! It’s lit! Let’s get it rocking!”

Luckily for Chiefs fans, Juju Smith-Schuster will be playing behind Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce and most certainly will not be a focal point for opposing defenses. As he showed in 2018, he can be very productive in those scenarios. The injuries are a concern but will be something he certainly is working on for this season.

Everyone in Kansas City will desperately be hoping that Smith-Schuster can stay on the field for a full season because if he does he is sure to produce in that offense. Patrick Mahomes will have quite a lot of work to do given how the rest of the AFC West has dominated the offseason but this signing has gone somewhat under the radar but most certainly can be explosive.
