Michael Jerome Irvin is a name to reckon with in the world of the NFL. Currently working as a sports commentator, the former professional wide receiver made a name for himself at the highest stage. He spent his entire 12-year NFL career with the Dallas Cowboys.

His career could have stretched a lot more but then a spinal cord injury forced him to bid adieu to the game. Irvin was nicknamed “the Playmaker” due to his astounding ability to make big plays in crucial games throughout his career.

That’s the nature of this game. The salary cap is over $200 million now. When I was playing, it was $60-80 million, so the money in the league has grown exponentially. No, I’m not jealous about it. I’m happy about it,” he claimed, as reported by the New York Post.

He also commented on Tyreek Hill and Davante Adams leaving their star QBs to join new franchises. “You left Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes — I don’t know if I could’ve ever left Troy Aikman,” Irvin claimed. When enquired if the factors associated with living in Las Vegas or Miami may have had an impact on the receivers’ decisions, Irvin instantly said no.

You can still go live there in your house in the offseason, but I’m not leaving those quarterbacks,” he said. “Let’s see how this plays out. You’re making $30 million and you can have houses in two places. I think the most important thing is taking care of what’s on the football field,” he added.

Talking about the new QBs Davante and Tyreek will work with for the coming season, Irvin said, “They had some great quarterbacks. I’m interested in seeing how it works out with Tua Tagovailoa and Derek Carr.”

If you’re not putting up the numbers to support that $30 million, they’ll come for you, just like Dallas did with Amari Cooper and his $20 million. It would’ve been hard for me to make a business decision on leaving those quarterbacks,” he further said. It will be interesting to see how the big names who have got the big bucks perform in the coming season.
