A couple of hours ago Brian Flores was announced as the defensive assistant/linebackers coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers to strengthen the defensive schemes of the franchise who has struggled a lot on the defensive end in the recently concluded season.
Flores will get to work with Mike Tomlin as the only two black coaches in the league currently will get a chance to help each other and kickstart the new era for this Steelers franchise.
Mike Tomlin spoke after Flores was hired and said, “I am excited about Brian Flores joining our coaching staff given his history of developing and teaching defensive players during his time in the NFL.”
“Brian Flores’ resume speaks for itself…”- Mike Tomlin
Mike Tomlin said, “Brian’s resume speaks for itself, and I look forward to him adding his expertise to help our team.”
Brian Flores spent the past three seasons as Miami’s head coach before he was fired after the end of the season, later he went on to file a lawsuit against the NFL and many other teams prior to the Super Bowl which brought huge attention to everyone towards the matter.
The lawsuit was related to racism which was being shown by the team owners in the process of hiring head coaches as black coaches despite having a solid resume were being ignored and much less deserving white coaches were getting hired for the role of head coach.
Flores and Tomlin will look to form a solid partnership and help this upcoming team of the Steelers to return back to the days of glory like in past.
