The San Francisco 49ers will take on the NFC East Champions the Philadelphia Eagles led by Jalen Hurts in the NFC Conference Championship game this weekend. Ahead of their decisive game, the 49ers’ head coach Kyle Shanahan has shared an important injury update on their starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo who went down earlier in the season with an injury.
Garoppolo suffered a foot injury during the Niners’ matchup against the Miami Dolphins in week 13. Many people thought that the 49ers’ season was over after the injury since he was the second 49ers QB this season to suffer an injury. Just earlier this season, during the Niners’ week 2 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, the 49ers starting QB Trey Lance suffered a season-ending ankle injury which led to Jimmy G taking over his job.
Nevertheless, even after losing two quarterbacks to injury the Niners managed to conquer the NFC West division and reached the NFC Conference Championship game on the back of the rookie sensation Brock Purdy. The “Mr. Irrelevant” had an impressive season he became a finalist for the OROY honor after starting just six games in the regular season.
Amidst his impressive rookie season, Kyle Shanahan hinted that Jimmy Garoppolo might be good to suit up for the playoffs. However, after the X-Ray tests on Tuesday, Shanahan informed the media that Jimmy G would not be available for the NFC Championship game this weekend. “I don’t expect to have him this week,” answered Shanahan to a reporter’s question about the possible return of the Niners’ veteran QB Garoppolo following the X-Ray tests.

The San Francisco 49ers will be heading east to Pennsylvania this weekend to take on the first-seeded Eagles in hopes of beating them in the NFC Conference Championship round of the NFL postseason.
The Niners have all the defensive tools to contain one of the most dangerous offenses in the league and they have the offensive star power to defeat the Eagles in an offensive shootout.
Their mid-season accumulation of RB Christian McCaffrey might go down as one of the greatest mid-season trades in the franchise’s history since the team hasn’t lost a single game with CMC in their backfield.
The Niners have the No.1 defense in the NFC led by the DPOY front-runner Nick Bosa and the Eagles have the No.1 scoring offense in the NFC led by MVP finalist Jalen Hurts. However, the Niners’ rushing attack might give them the edge in the decisive game.
