The San Francisco 49ers led by their head coach Kyle Shanahan suffered a humiliating loss against the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship game during the conference championship weekend. Although the Eagles played a great game on all sides of the football game, many people thought they had some kind of unfair advantage since the Niners were down to their fourth-string quarterback and the 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel also shares the sentiment.

The Niners fans had a roller coaster of a year this season. Their starting quarterback and former 3rd overall pick Trey lance suffered a season-ending injury in week 2 of the regular season and the 49ers were forced to continue the season with their backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. Jimmy G was having a decent run with the Niners before he suffered a foot injury during their game against the Miami Dolphins in week 13 of the NFL regular season.

After two of their quarterbacks went down, everyone thought the Niners’ season was done. However, their 3rd-string quarterback and the former last overall draft pick Brock Purdy took over the league by storm after taking over the Niners’ starting QB job. The rookie played so well that he was named one of the finalists for Offensive Rookie of the Year honors despite starting just five regular season games.

After Purdy’s impressive run, fans started to believe in the Niners’ season again and the 49ers made it all the way to the NFC Championship game, but they lost the game due to yet another unfortunate again.

The Niners faced the Eagles in what was supposed to be a battle for ages between two evenly-matched teams. However, the Niners ran out of options at the quarterback after their 3rd string QB Brock Purdy went down with an arm injury.

During, the first quarter of the game, Purdy suffered an arm injury and was forced out of the game for a long time and the 49er’s star wideout Deebo Samuel believes that it might be the reason they lost the game.

“We lost both of our quarterbacks. … It hurt for sure, but I wish we took one more quarterback into that game, and it probably would’ve been a different outcome,” said Deebo Samuel during his appearance in a recent episode of the ESPN show First Take.

Well, the injury might be the reason that the 49ers’ offense struggled to move the ball downfield but the Niners’ defense was at its full strength and the Philadelphia Eagles‘ offense led by Jalen Hurts still managed to put 31 points on the board, so the Eagles might’ve been just the better team.
