Even the three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, Aaron Donald, had players he did not enjoy playing against. On top of that list was former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce.
Aaron Donald will go down as one of the best defensive players ever to play in the league. After spending 10 seasons with the Los Angeles Rams, the 32-year-old finally hung up his boots earlier this year.
Throughout his time, Donald faced some tough opponents. While appearing on former Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Chris Long‘s Green Light podcast, he revealed who gave the 6-foot-1, 280-pound edge rusher the hardest time.
Philly, I hated playing against Philly! [Jason] Kelce, his little fast as* always ran full; he would snap the ball run over right now. I'm like, 'Bro, you got some good guards; let them work; you don't gotta help them every time.' He’s like, 'I'm not gonna let you go; let you ruin the game.Aaron Donald said
Aaron Donald had a hard time playing against the Eagles
Being in the same conference, Aaron Donald played the Eagles five times in his Los Angeles Rams career. However, in those five encounters, the Rams only recorded one victory in September 2020. Donald only managed a combined 10 tackles (5 solo and 5 assisted) and not a single sack.
I'm like every single play now every time I play the Eagles, bro, but I really never really gotten no one on ones. I probably had like one or two during one game, and that will be it. If you don't win a [one-on-one] that time, you're done. You're going to get double and triple teams for the rest of the game!Donald said
Donald received several accolades while playing in the NFL. Those include 10 Pro Bowls, 8 First Team All-Pros, the Deacon Jones Award for the most sacks in a season in 2018, and being named to the 2010 All-Decade Team. He won the Super Bowl in 2021, registering 84 tackles and 12.5 sacks.
Similar to the Pittsburgh graduate, Jason Kelce would be a first-ballot Hall of Famer. The 36-year-old hailing from Cleveland Heights played 13 years in the league. He was a seven-time Pro Bowler and six-time First-Team All-Pro, reaching the Super Bowl twice with the Eagles and winning it in 2017. Kelce decided to retire after the Super Bowl LVIII in February.
