Aaron Rodgers ended his 16-year stint with the Green Bay Packers earlier in the year and decided to move to the New York Jets. A recent leak suggests that the 39-year-old allegedly rejected the chance to play for the New England Patriots before the move.

This is important news, as we may have seen another elite quarterback dawning in the Patriots jersey. A four-time NFL MVP, Rodgers, in New England under coach Bill Belichick does sound like a juicy prospect never to happen.

On the other hand, a chance to play in the Big Apple is probably one of the primary reasons for his move. The Super Bowl winner, after signing for the Jets, revealed that he is loving every bit of life in New York.

Not long after that, he showed up at Taylor Swift’s Eras concert at the Metlife Stadium.

If you consider both teams side by side, Rodgers will have better control over the Jets. He will undoubtedly be the starter ahead of 2021 first-round pick Zach Wilson, who has fallen out of favor. Besides him, 37-year-old Joe Flacco’s marathon run with the Jets will end sooner rather than later. Moreover, the remaining two, Mike White and Chris Streveler, have contracts that are nearing their end.

Naturally, Rodgers has a clear path ahead of him if the four-time All-Pro can keep himself fit through the entire season. While Patriots fans will be slightly disappointed, Rodgers choosing the Jets over them has merit.

A wave of joy spread across the Jets fanbase when Stephan A. Smith announced that he liked the possibility of Aaron Rodgers moving to New York. Who wouldn’t be, as an illustrious career similar to Rodgers’ is rare?

Apart from Rodgers, they traded his Packers teammate, receiver Randall Cobb. Together, they can replicate their mojo on the field. Moreover, Rodgers can take on a mentorship role for the young Zach Wilson. The 10-time Pro Bowler recently revealed in an interview that he sees a lot of potential in Sauce Gardner and Garett Wilson.

The Packers are coming off a less-than-prolific 2022 season, as they managed a 7-11 record. With a fit Rodgers at the helm, things might change drastically, as he still has one of the most lethal throws in the NFL, according to analyst Chris Simm.

The Jets will begin their NFL 2023 season against the Buffalo Bills on September 12.
