“Back to Miami,” Adam Shaheen’s trade move to the Houston Texans falls through due to failed physical

There are many various reasons why a player trade between two franchises in the NFL falls through, and Miami Dolphins tight end, Adam Shaheen has just experienced one of them. The 29-year-old was all set to move to the Houston Texans but will instead be staying on with the Dolphins at least for the moment.

Miami Dolphins agreed to acquire a 2023 sixth-round pick from the Houston Texans in exchange for tight end Adam Shaheen and a 2023 seventh-round pick. However, Shaheen failed his physical due to a pre-existing knee condition and the deal has been made null and void.

What is interesting in all of this is that despite his pre-existing knee condition, the tight end did not miss a day’s practice camp all summer. During his time at the Dolphins which will now be extended further, he was in a race to earn himself a spot on the final roster for the franchise as the fourth choice tight end, alongside the likes of Gesicki, Durham Smythe, Hunter Long, Cethan Carter and Tanner Conner.

Adam Shaheen first set foot in the NFL courtesy of the Chicago Bears who drafted him in the 2017 NFL draft as a second-round pick and spent three years with the franchise before moving on to the Miami Dolphins. Shaheen has caught 50 passes for 509 yards and seven touchdowns in 55 career games
