Andy Reid breaks silence on Sean McDermott’s 9/11 controversy before important Chiefs vs Bills game

The Buffalo Bills’ head coach Sean McDermott has been under heavy scrutiny this week due to a recent article that the head coach perceived as hurtful to his character. The article stated that the Bill’s HC once used the hijackers of 9/11 as an example of people working towards a common goal. That article led a lot of people to doubt McDermott’s position as the head coach of the Buffalo Bills.
However, amidst all the criticism, Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid has come to McDermott’s defense. The current Bills head coach was Philadelphia Eagles’ assistant for 10 years while Reid of their head coach. The Chiefs’ head coach was recently asked if has talked to McDermott about the whole incident. Reid confirmed that he didn’t talk to his former assistant, but has shown his support to McDermott.
Reid said:
None of us talk during the week. That’s just how it goes. We’re all so busy doing our thing. I can just tell you Sean McDermott is a heck of a human being. That’s what I do know.Andy Reid in conversation with the reporters
The Chiefs are preparing to face the Bills this Sunday. Both these teams came into the season with Super Bowl aspirations and are expected to make a deep playoff run.
The Chiefs are 8-4 so far this season, whereas the Bills are 6-6. Both these teams will enter their Sunday matchup on the back of losing their last games. The Chiefs were defeated by the Green Bay Packers while the Bills were beaten by the Philadelphia Eagles. Both these teams will look to bounce back on Sunday.
Brandon Beane talks about Sean McDermott’s 9/11 story
The Buffalo Bills’ Sean McDermott has spent the last week under fire due to an article published by Tyler Dunne. In the article, it was revealed that McDermott once used the hijackers of 9/11 as reference to convey the importance of cohesion and communication to his players. He received a lot of flak for that and has apologized publicly since then. The Bills’ GM Brandon Beane also spoke about that story.
Beane said:
Obviously when you’re in leadership positions, you’ve got a lot of people looking up to you. And none of us are perfect … I think Sean acknowledged that. I went into the team meeting yesterday, I think he talked to [the media] first, went into the team meeting and I thought it was very authentic. I think you guys that have been around here some years know who Sean’s character is. I’ll stand by his character every day of the week.Beane during interaction with the reporters
The Bills are 6-6 this season and are in danger of missing out on the playoffs. McDermott has been under pressure for his team’s poor performances as he prepares to take on the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs in their next game.
