The controversial wide receiver Antonio Brown could face another legal issue, but this time it’s over a questionable business decision. The former Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver could join the American television personality Kim Kardashian and former NBA player Paul Pierce in paying fines of over a million US dollars for promoting Ethereum Max cryptocurrency.

All three celebrities/athletes were accused of promoting Ethereum Max in an alleged scheme last year, and both Kim Kardashian and Paul Pierce have agreed to pay settlements to SEC as a penalty. According to SEC, Pierce promoted the currency without disclosing the payment he received for the promotion and made untrue and deceiving promotions about the product.

Along with Pierce, Kim Kardashian and Antonio Brown were also sued for involving in the pump-and-dump scheme. Which is basically promoting a product and selling their shares after its price rises. Following the suit, Kardashian agreed to pay 1.26 million dollars as a penalty to SEC for her involvement in the Ethereum Max scheme in October.

“This case is yet another reminder to celebrities: The law requires you to disclose to the public from whom and how much you are getting paid to promote investment in securities, and you can’t lie to investors when you tout a security,” SEC Chair Gary Gensler said in a statement.

And now, following Kardashian, the NBA star Paul Pierce also has agreed to pay 1.4 million dollars to resolve the issues with SEC. Based on these actions, it is fair to wonder whether the former Buccaneers WR Antonio Brown could be the next one to pay the penalty since he’s also one of the defendants in the lawsuit regarding the Ethereum Max crypto violations.

Antonio Brown had one of the greatest careers a wide receiver could have. He could’ve achieved more if he didn’t do the stupid he did in the later stages of his career, but still, whatever he has achieved so far is better than most players could dream of.

At one stage in his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Brown had six consecutive 1000-yard seasons. The 34-year-old WR has been to 7 Pro Bowls and has been named to the All-Pro team 4 times.

Furthermore, the electric wideout also has one Super Bowl ring, which he won while playing with Tom Brady and the Buccaneers. With his resume, Brown could easily get into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, barring massive legal trouble.
