The New England Patriots lost to the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday in an ugly way. “The worst play in the NFL” will haunt New England fans for many years to come.

The score was tied 24-24 when the Patriots had the ball on their own 44 with just three seconds left in the regulation time. Instead of taking a knee and playing for the overtime, the Patriots got cute and tried to win it in the regulation time itself by throwing laterals, but it didn’t go according to the plan.

With just 3 seconds left in the clock, Mac Jones handed the ball off to Rhamondre Stevenson who ran for a few yards before throwing a lateral pass to wide receiver Jakobi Meyers. Meyers then scrambled for a few yards before throwing another lateral but this time to a Las vegas Player. Chandler Jones was the only player near the ball where Meyers threw it. The Raiders’ edge rusher caught the ball, ran over Patriots quarterback Mac Jones and scored a game-winning touchdown as the clock expired.

Truly one of the most remarkable moments in NFL history. Bill Belichick was asked about the final play sequence after the game, he admitted they did a mistake and noted that they gotta do a better job. “The play didn’t work,” Belichick said. “Made a mistake on that play … we’ve talked about situational football. We’ve talked about it every week. But obviously, we gotta do a better job.”

Patriots slip out of their wild-card spot after this loss, they look to improve their chances of getting into playoffs this weekend when they face Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals.

The New England Patriots vs the Las Vegas Raiders game produced one of the most remarkable walk-off touchdown ever. Twitter was having a field day after the horrendous play by the New England Patriots wide receiver Jakobi Meyers.

New England tried to win the game in regulation time by throwing lateral passes, which backfired massively when the Raiders defensive player Chandler Jones intercepted a lateral throw and took it to the house, winning the game for the Raiders in an unlikely manner.

Twitter users wasted no time with their tweets after this play.

It will take decades to forget a loss like this, but the Patriots will look to erase some of the pain from this game with a victory over the Cincinnati Bengal, who they will be facing this weekend.
