With Aaron Rodgers moving to New York, the starting QB position is safely in the hands of Jordan Love. After sitting on the sidelines for multiple seasons, Love has finally got the opportunity to shine as a starter.

The 24-year-old QB was drafted in 2020 by the Green Bay Packers as the potential replacement for Rodgers. However, the veteran QB didn’t show any signs of slowing down and Love was constricted to the backup position.

Now, the young QB has cemented the starting position however, he doesn’t have the vote of confidence from Brian Gutekunst. The Packers GM recently spoke about Love’s rookie contract and will the management opt for the 5th year option on him.

“It’s a lot of money for a guy who hasn’t played, but at the same time, we’re moving forward with him,” Gutekunst told reporters Saturday. Love has started just one game in his NFL career and delivered a lukewarm performance.

If the Packers are to pick up on Jordan Love’s 5h year option then they will have to pay around $20 million. This is mostly the money that they were set to pay Rodgers for his final year in Green Bay. Love has thrown for just 606 yards and three touchdowns with three interceptions in 10 games, completing an unimpressive 60.2 percent of his passes.

In hindsight, Jordan Love is going to appear in the most important season of his life that has the potential to determine his future in the NFL. If he fails to perform, then there are chances that the Packers won’t extend his contract, rendering him a free agent.

Can Jordan Love live up to Aaron Rodgers legacy?

Aaron Rodgers established a great legacy with the Packers and is considered one of the greatest QBs of all time. The 45-year-old also won a Super Bowl with the Packers and back-to-back MVP awards.

Jordan Love has the monstrous task to fill in the shoes of Rodgers. While he has some level of decent athleticism, it is unlikely that he will be able to live up to Rodgers’ standards.

The Packers and Jordan Love are expected to reach a decent settlement that will help benefit both parties. With preseason around the corner, the Green Bay-based team will look to get done with the negotiations quickly.
