Nathaniel Hackett was fired as Denver Broncos head coach amid a horrible first Season. This announcement came a day after the Broncos’ disastrous 51-14 loss against the Los Angeles Rams on Christmas Day. Hackett was hired by the Broncos earlier due to his successful stint as an offensive coordinator with the Green Bay Packers.
Expectations were high at the Broncos after they also got an upgrade at the quarterback position when they traded for Russell Wilson. Unfortunately, the expectations were not met by the duo. After starting the season as a Super Bowl contender, the Denver Broncos are now a mere 4-11 team with just two weeks remaining in the regular season. But it’s not just about the record, Hackett has been heavily criticized for his time management along with his team management.
There were several incidents on the Broncos’ sideline, that made fans question the leadership of Nathaniel Hackett. Most recently on Christmas Day, a bunch of Broncos players including backup QB Brett Rypien and offensive guard Dalton Risner were seen arguing on the sidelines. According to reports, the sideline scuffle might be a sign that Hackett has lost his team.
Just one day after that morale-downing beatdown against the Rams, the Broncos have announced that they have parted ways with Nathaniel Hackett. The team has also fired special teams coordinator Dwayne Stukes and offensive line coach Butch Barry.

Nathaniel Hackett’s hiring by the Denver Broncos might go down as one of the worst head coaching hires in NFL history, as Hackett becomes just the fourth coach to be fired during his first season with the team. The other three are Urban Meyer (2021), Pete McCulley (1978), and John Whelchel (1949).
