The Tampa Bay Buccaneers faced off against the Carolina Panthers in their week 13 game on Sunday. Both these teams came into the season with question marks surrounding them.

The Bucs had a new quarterback in Baker Mayfield, whereas the Panthers selected Bryce Young with their first overall pick in this year’s draft. Although these two teams have a losing record, the Panthers are, record-wise, the worst team in the league.

The Bucs won their game against the Panthers as they improved to 5-7. The Panthers, on the other hand, slipped to 1-11 for the season. It has been a frustrating season for the Panthers, and those frustrations boiled over on Sunday as their OLB Brian Burns punched the Bucs’ OL Cody Mauch during a little on-field scuffle. Burns was later ejected from the game.

The incident took place during the third quarter, just after the Panthers had taken a three-point lead. A scuffle broke out during the Bucs’ following drive, and Burns was seen throwing a punch at the lineman. He was ejected from the game for the act. The linebacker confirmed that the team’s poor record this season was a major reason for his frustration.

The Panthers attempted a late rally to win the game in the fourth quarter, but the Bucs held on to their lead and won the game. The Buccaneers are second in their division despite a losing record. The Panthers will hope to save face and close the season with a few wins.

Burns revealed that his action was a result of an inflammatory comment made by one of the Bucs’ linemen. However, Burns also clarified that Mauch was not the one who commented.

That’s not all; he also blamed the team’s 1-11 record for his frustrations. Burns said.

It was something he shouldn’t have said. All of it. It’s a whole bunch of s***.

The linebacker apologized to his family, teammates, and fans for losing his temper. He said:

Emotions got the best of me. One of their offensive linemen said something in the beginning that he shouldn't have said to me and my team. Ever since then I was pretty much on 10. I was mad. I got to control my actions.

The Bucs broke their two-game losing streak on Sunday, whereas the Panthers have now lost five games in a row. They will play their next game against the New Orleans Saints next Sunday. The Bucs will face the Atlanta Falcons on the same day.
