Cardinals QB Joshua Dobbs coyly claims it was ‘good’ to send Cowboys fans home a little early after humiliating Dak Prescott’s team in week-3

Journeyman Joshua Dobbs finally earned his first career victory in the NFL, beating the Dallas Cowboys. It’s fair to say the Arizona Cardinals quarterback enjoyed every second of it.
The win was an upset in every sense of the word. The Cowboys were on a hot streak, blowing the Giants away in the first game and commanding a victory against the Jets the following week. They were the overwhelming favorites to win in Arizona.
On the other hand, the Cardinals suffered back-to-back defeats in their two games. Naturally, sports analysts were in agreement that the trajectory would continue. But Joshua Dobbs and co. proved them wrong. A 17-of-21 passing for 189 yards and a TD performance were enough to see off the Cowboys. Incidentally, it was against the same team that Dobbs made his debut for the Titans last season. After 269 days, he has come full circle.
“It was a tremendous full-circle moment because it feels like yesterday,” the 28-year-old said in the postmatch press conference. “It was good to take a moment to enjoy it.”
Notably, the shocking defeat was a gut punch back to reality. They were missing Trevon Diggs in the middle of the defense, but the absence of a cornerback can’t be an excuse for only managing a solitary run to the end zone.
The credit goes to the Cardinals players who kept CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup quiet. It was a team effort for the home team and a statement for the rest of the league to not take them lightly.
Dobbs, after the game, even took a subtle dig at the Cowboys. “That was great, man,” he said. “It was good to hear our fans cheer for us. That was good to send them home a little early and enjoy the moment with our guys.”

Does the Cowboys’ victory guarantee Joshua Dobbs the starting quarterback job with the Arizona Cardinals?
Sometimes a player needs a bit of luck. Joshua Dobbs definitely needed that after switching seven teams since the 2017 draft. The fourth-round pick joined the Cleveland Browns in March as a backup. But he was then traded to the Arizona Cardinals in August because Kyler Murray was put on the injured list.
Moreover, the contract disputes regarding Murray were a massive headache for the franchise. By adding him to the list, they basically restricted him from seeing playtime for a year. Thus, the opportunity arose for Dobbs. Even though he failed to win the first two games, his stats showed the promise he possessed (more than 350 yards and 42 pass completions).
Until Murray is fit to play again, Joshua Dobbs will continue to fill that void for the Cardinals. He will have more chances to prove himself starting next week against the San Francisco 49ers.
