After coaching the Kansas City Chiefs to two back-to-back Super Bowl trophies, head coach Andy Reid has established himself among the greatest coaches of all time. And who else deserves to throw the ceremonial first pitch on the opening day of Major League Baseball than them?

Last Thursday, the Kansas City Royals opened their season against the Minnesota Twins at home. To honor the city, they had one of the most decorated NFL coaches throw the first pitch and start the 2024 season.

The Chiefs head coach entered the field with great pride as he carried the Lombardi Trophy. Surprisingly, the three-time Super Bowl champion coach threw the perfect strike to the Royals legend George Brett.

Having Chiefs star members do the honors of ceremonial first pitches at the MLB Opening Day, the Royals are probably hoping to earn the victory. As previously, they had also invited the team’s star quarterback for the honors. Unfortunately winning doesn’t come that handy to anyone.

As a result, the Royals fell to the Twins 4-1 for the second straight MLB Opening Day. Moreover, they are coming off a 56-106 season, which is their seventh straight losing season as they haven’t been to a playoffs since 2015.

The Chiefs’ head coach, who is about to become one of the highest-paid head coaches in NFL’s history, throwing the perfect strike was just as surprising to his team as it was for the others. After seeing the clip, one of his players couldn’t keep himself from laughing out of the situation.

Even though the NFL’s elite quarterback Mahomes couldn’t be there at the Kaufmann Stadium, it doesn’t mean he was following up on the news, especially since his head coach was involved. Mahomes on X along with three laughing emojis.

Anyone know if coach Reid threw a strike?

The quarterback’s comment seems more hilarious as his 66-year-old head coach threw a better pitch than him. He was invited to throw out the first pitch by the Texans Rangers, but it wasn’t referred to as a strike by the umpires.
