Lately the amount of support and applause San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has been receiving, there ought another person with criticism. This time, that person is CeeDee Lamb who asserted some quite strong views in regard to Purdy’s abilities as a quarterback and his contributions in leading the 49ers to the Super Bowl LVIII

Like many, the budding star wide receiver, as well, believes the reason why the second-year quarterback led his team this far is the star-studded offensive weapons that head coach Kyle Shanahan has gathered. He believes that Purdy is a good quarterback, he can’t be credited for the whole team’s efforts.

In a recent episode of The Edge with Micah Parsons, the Cowboys linebacker asked Lamb whether he considers the 49ers have the best offensive lineup this season, and if that’s so, does he think if QB Purdy didn’t have the offensive weapon, the Niners may not be reached at this stage.

No disrespect to Brock Purdy, but absolutely not. He’s a great player, he makes the right passes. Your first question before this one was, ‘If he went anywhere else, would he still lead these guys to the big game?’ I don’t think so but I do feel like he’s the perfect piece that’s needed in San Fran.

As Lamb gave his honest take, he also clarified that he does not consider Purdy a game-manager.

Game manager is crazy. That’s not what I’m calling him [Brock Purdy]. I don’t know who came up with that, but that’s not my words.

Brock Purdy’s journey from Mr. Irrelevant to Super Bowl star

As quarterback Purdy was selected in the seventh round as the No. 262 pick, which is the last round of the 2022 NFL draft, it earned him the typical title of “Mr. Irrelevant.”

But when he got the opportunity to lead, the 49ers reached the NFC championship game in his first season and Super Bowl in second season, the perception of him changed entirely. In his first season, he took over when Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo suffered injuries, he went 5-0 straight and led them to the conference championship game without losing any game.

However, the 49ers suffered a defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles after Purdy injured his elbow, and their Super Bowl dream was crushed. Until this season, when he not only qualified for the postseason but as the top-seeded NFC team. Now he’s about to face off against the Kansas City Chiefs in mere hours.
