The vibes in the Dallas Cowboys locker room seem to be great even after a poor start to their preseason. They have lost both their preseason games so far. There is one player however who has been mighty impressive in both the losses, rookie RB Deuce Vaughn. The diminutive rusher is only 5’5” but has speed and a strong core. He is a dynamic player for his size, but his teammates are having fun with his height.
Star wideout CeeDee Lamb recently shared an Instagram story mocking the rookie for his height. In the video Lamb asks Vaughn to remove his cleats and gloves from the table. Both those things are of unusually small in size. The WR saw this as an opportunity to make fun of Vaughn and accepted it with both hands.
Vaughn had a great Draft day moment. His father is a coach with the Cowboys and he made the call to Vaughn when they drafted him in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. The Cowboys will hope to bring the best out of the rookie rusher and the early signs are great.
The Cowboys lost to the San Francisco 49ers in last season’s divisional round. They have a strong roster and will hope to make a deep playoff run this season. They will play their final preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders and hope to come out on top in that one. The Cowboys will visit New York to play the New York Giants to open the season on September 10. The only question is, are they really Vaughn’s cleats and gloves?
Can Deuce Vaughn start as Cowboys’ RB in week 1 against the Giants?
Deuce Vaughn has impressed everyone. His preseason performances have been nothing short of great and there is genuine excitement about the rookie rusher. The Cowboys have lost both their preseason games so far but Vaughn has been impressive in those games.
Vaughn was drafted in the sixth round of this year’s draft. He is only 5’5” but runs like he is 6’5”. With dynamic speed and swift footwork, Vaughn is already being compared to former pro bowler and Super Bowl champion Darren Sproles.
The Cowboys’ already have a great RB in Tony Pollard and Vaughn will be expected to be the RB2, but if he continues to perform like this, there is a chance he might start against the New York Giants on 10th September. Vaughn and Cowboys will be in action on this Saturday against the Las Vegas Raiders in their final preseason game.
