It takes great sportsmanship to appreciate a team you lost against in a regular season when you defeated them in the Super Bowl. And the Kansas City Chiefs fanatic Nick Wright seems to have that.

Chiefs recently lost a week 11 game against their rivals, Philadelphia Eagles by 21-17. The game was widely considered a rematch of last season’s Super Bowl, that held between these two teams — Eagles and Chiefs.

Many times before the match, the Eagles made it clear that they did not have any revenge vanadate against the Super Bowl LVII champions. In the game, the Eagles’ offense only put up 78 total net yards, in which the majority, 70 yards, were obtained on a single touchdown drive. Despite the shortcomings, the Eagles overthrew the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium and improved by 9-1 standing.

Acknowledging the team effort, especially the defense of the Eagles, First Things First host and sports analyst Wright gave them huge credit for outplaying his favourite team, the Chiefs.

Nick Wright said:

I feel really good about the Chiefs matchups specifically against the Philly. But from a holistic standpoint for the Eagles, I think they deserve massive credit that I feel like football media…has started talking about the NFL at times like it's college football. Like yeah, they won, but how impressive was it?

Wright highlighted how usually teams, after facing Super Bowl loss, do not perform well in the following season. But not the Philadelphia Eagles, as they have lost just one game this season, so far. Here is what he had to say:

The Philadelphia Eagles, coming off a Super Bowl loss, which typically leads to bad seasons for teams, have lost one game. They just went into Arrowhead off a bye….were down 10 at the half & won. I don't really care that it wasn't pretty. They know how to win. I give them massive credit.

Is Jalen Hurts leading the MVP conversation?

Based on the performance of the Eagles’ star quarterback Jalen Hurts this season and how he led his team to nine victories, has surely put him atop in MVP conversation. And after the recent victory of the Eagles in week 11, against the Chiefs, has made that very clear.

QB Hurts has become the new betting favourite to win the MVP award for the 2023 regular season. The reason for this wasn’t his outing, as he has completed only 14 out of his 22 passes for 150 yards, one interception, and a passer rating of 64.6. What made him the lead is the way he hemmed out Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, resulting in recording more plays down the stretch.

As many sportsbooks ranked Hurts as the favourite, so did the DraftKings Sportsbook. They ranked him the favourite at +250, Ravens’ quarterback Lamar Jackson second at +350, and Chiefs’ Mahomes third at +400.
