The superstar quarterback suffered an ankle injury during the divisional playoff game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Despite not recovering fully, Mahomes decided to play in the Super Bowl which made his victory even more so remarkable. However, he aggravated his injury during the finals which made his return for the 2023 season questionable.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke with NFL Network’s Steve Wyche at the Annual League Meeting on Saturday and gave an update regarding the Mahomes’ injury. “He didn’t have to get anything done. He’s doing good, he feels good,” Reid said. “This time, he jumped right back into workouts and working the ankle, rehabbing the ankle. He’s lifting and running the parts that he could run, and he didn’t miss a beat on that.”

This news will put Kansas City fans at ease who were worried about the quarterback returning under center for the next season. With Patrick Mahomes being completely healthy, he will look to defend the Super Bowl title and win a back-to-back Lombardi Trophy after his previous attempt was thwarted by 43-year-old Tom Brady.

Many pundits and fans believe that Mahomes can be the one who can break Tom Brady’s 7 Super Bowl wins record. Other believe that once Andy Reid retires from football, the Chiefs won’t be as dominant as they are right now. Who’s to say, it may be true!
