Chris Canty SHOCKINGLY claims Aaron Rodgers won’t be a Top 5 QB at any cost if he moves to the Jets
Chris Canty snubs Aaron Rodgers from his list of Top 5 quarterbacks in the AFC.

The most talked about quarterback in the league right now is Aaron Rodgers. People have been talking about his potential retirement from the NFL for the past three years now and that narrative seemed to be stretched to its last string this season. Rodgers himself said that he might play his 19th season somewhere else than Green Bay and after dancing around it for almost three long months, he finally gave his decision.
Aaron Rodgers revealed on The Pat McAfee Show recently that he wants to play for the New York Jets in 2023. The Jets are in talks with the Packers regarding the compensation and other technicalities that come with trading a player such as Rodgers, who holds the most expensive contract in NFL history. The deal will get signed in the coming weeks and the 39-year-old will officially be a Jet.
Many fans around the league are predicting that Rodgers might win the Super Bowl with the Jets in 2023, just like Tom Brady did with the Buccaneers. But Brady was a different breed altogether and the 4x NFL MVP hasn’t been to another Super Bowl since winning it back in 2010. Some are wondering if the Jets are making the right move by going all-in on Rodgers. Only time will tell!

Chris Canty says Aaron Rodgers is a declining player
With Aaron Rodgers joining the Jets, the AFC now becomes even more challenging to win games in. There are a lot of young quarterbacks who are destined to rule over the NFL for the next decade, including Super Bowl LVII champion Patrick Mahomes. With reference to that, Super Bowl XLVI champion Chris Canty ranked the AFC quarterbacks now that Rodgers plans on being one of them on Get Up.
Canty’s top five quarterbacks are – Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, Justin Herbert, and Trevor Lawrence. That’s right, the back-to-back MVP doesn’t star on this elite list which came as a shock to most fans. It doesn’t come as a surprise that Mahomes is on the top of the list because the Chiefs signal-caller already has more Super Bowl wins than half of the QBs in the league right now.
There isn’t anyone as cool as Burrow in the NFL. The former first-overall pick revived the failing Bengals franchise and led them to the Super Bowl two years back. He has all the makings for a great quarterback and will definitely win multiple Super Bowls. Allen, being third on the list, also isn’t a news flash for anyone. He has more playoff wins than Aaron Rodgers in the last three years.
Now, one would think that Rodgers at least be fourth on the list, but no, Chris Canty doesn’t believe that the veteran quarterback is better than Herbert. “Now Justin Herbert hasn’t won a playoff game but Aaron Rodgers wasn’t in the playoffs last year but his team was,” Canty explained. The former defensive tackle didn’t even place one of the greatest quarterbacks in league history at the fifth position in his list.
The 2021 first-overall pick, Trevor Lawrence, is a better quarterback than Rodger as per Chris Canty. He explained, “Trevor Lawr3ence got a playoff win more recently than Aaron Rodgers and did have a top 8 QBR since Week 9 of last year. All of these players are ascending. Aaron Rodgers is a descending player. He’s not a better athlete than these guys. He doesn’t have more arm talent than any of these guys.”
There’s no denying the fact that Aaron Rodgers wasn’t himself in 2022, but you can’t count out a guy like him. He is always in the game. A few years back, people dismissed Brady when he joined Tampa Bay, and look at what he did there in his first year. There is a high probability that Rodgers might do the same. Criticism is like fuel for players like Rodgers. Let’s see if he proves everyone wrong or not.
