The Dallas Cowboys are entering a very interesting phase of the season. They started the season with a bang winning their first two games in dominating fashion. There was a slight hiccup against the Arizona Cardinals in week 3, but they came back in week 4 and dismantled the New England Patriots by 35 points. Their biggest test, however, came in week 5 against the San Francisco 49ers and they were blown away by 32 points in that game.
After that game, the Niners were regarded as the clear favorites to win the NFC. The Niners though, lost their next two games against the Cleveland Browns and the Minnesota Vikings and suddenly look a bit vulnerable. The Cowboys need to pounce on that vulnerability. And a blockbuster trade is one way to make a statement. Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones recently confirmed that the Cowboys are willing to make a trade but they won’t initiate it. ESPN analyst Chris Russo, though, thinks that Jones should call the Tennessee Titans and ask them for their star RB Derrick Henry.
Russo said when asked about a potential trade option for the Cowboys:
How about Derrick Henry? I think they need a running back. They need a guy to give them 20-25 carries a game when Dak's [Prescott] off, on the road, in a big spot, move the chains and play four minute football. Tennessee is going nowhere. Tennessee is got to rebuild, they don't have a quarterback.
He further continued by saying:
From that standpoint I would think, Henry is available, he's a Hall of Fame running back. This is a great football player. He's not like what he was five years ago, but he's still great and Dallas needs a back. If I was Jones, if he wants to win a championship, he's 81 years old. Jerry, if not now, then when. If you want to win a championship, go get Derrick Henry.
The Cowboys won’t initiate any trades before the deadline, but they are open to participate. The deadline is October 31 and if the Cowboys pull off a Derrick Henry-type trade before the deadline, they will instantly climb the contenders ladder.

The Dallas Cowboys are 4-2 to begin the 2023 NFL season. Their owner, Jerry Jones knows this as he claims that the Cowboys are in the ‘upper echelon’ of the NFL along with the likes of San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles.
Jones said on his weekly appearance on 105.3 The Fan:
Well, we belong in the upper echelons. I’m not going to say we belong on the field with San Fran, and we haven’t played Philly, but we’ve anticipated Philadelphia being what they look like. I don’t want to go that far, but we’re in the upper echelon.Jerry Jones on 105.3’s The Fan
The Cowboys won their last game against the Los Angeles Chargers in week 6. They enjoyed a bye in week 7 and will play the Los Angeles Rams in their next game on Sunday. Jones and the Cowboys will hope to be in that ‘upper echelon’ by the end of this season as well.
