The matchup between the Houston Texans and the New York Jets got really grim in the final quarter of the game. While the Jets had been dominating the Texans all game long restricting them to just 6 points, quarterback C.J. Stroud took a vicious hit that resulted in him having to be taken out of the game. The quarterback is being evaluated for concussion as per the NFL’s protocols.
C.J. Stroud took a hit from Quinnen Williams on a 3rd & 4 play, the resultant impact was so hard that it led to the QB’s head hitting the turf hard. His head bounced off the field when he went down. After this, Stroud lay in pain attempting to get up, but he was able to just move his legs around. It was evident that the impact upon hitting the turf put him in a lot of pain; from the initial looks, it does seem that he has a concussion.

While he scared fans and his team with his reaction as he lay down, Stroud was eventually able to get up and walk off the field himself. Davis Mills warmed up and came in for Stroud. The Texans wasted no time in putting him under concussion protocol, the same has been confirmed by Adam Schefter.

This means that Stroud is effectively done for the night and will be evaluated constantly in the coming weeks. It has been one of the worst nights for the quarterback and his team.
C.J. Stroud and the Texans offense have struggled all night long
The Jets’ defense has been relentless as they have been able to get to Stroud all night long. He was sacked 4 times tonight and the team lost 38 yards due to this. In addition to this, the quarterback has been having one of the worst games of the season completing just 10 of his 23 passes for 91 yards. In addition to Stroud, the Texans DE Will Anderson Jr. also left the game with an ankle injury in the final quarter.

If Stroud has suffered a concussion then it is a setback for the Houston Texans as they have the final playoff spot in the AFC with their 7-6 record. They cannot afford to lose games at this juncture and their offense faced one setback last week when they lost star rookie wideout Tank Dell to an injury. He has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.

C.J. Stroud has been having a great rookie year, he ranks first in the NFL for yards thrown with 3,540 yards, 20 total touchdowns, 5 interceptions, and a QBR of 59.3. He is already viewed by fans and analysts as the undisputed Rookie of the Year recipient and has managed to even enter the MVP conversation in his first year. It is unfortunate to see him get injured at this stage in the season, hopefully, he manages to make a speedy recovery and get back to playing soon.
