“Gotta win games to have a nice stadium”: Colin Cowherd MOCKS the Chicago Bears on their substandard field standards

The Chicago Bears kicked off their NFL preseason opener against the Kansas City Chiefs recently and usually, players and their performances tend to steal the show, however, in this case, it was entirely different. The talk of the town was the bad condition of Soldier Field stadium’s turf which drew a lot of backlash. The field was reportedly not up to the standards prescribed by the NFL.
This was not exactly the welcome that HC Matt Eberflus was looking for in his first game coaching, though the team is young and they look to prove critics across the league wrong, their playing field is old and far from ideal. There have been instances where the league has cancelled games over poor field conditions and many believe that this game should also have been called off as this was not safe to play on.
“Great job Elton John”: Chicago Bears hosted a concert by the legendary composer earlier this week
AP News Chicago reported that the president of the NFLPA also lashed out at the Bears for their terrible field maintenance and that he did not get a response from the team as to why the turf was bad. “The NFL said that this field met minimum testing standards, we clearly need to re-evaluate what is an acceptable surface for players to compete on. We need new testing metrics looking at the performance and safety of every field. The NFL can and should do better,” Union President JC Tretter tweeted.
The reason for the bad condition of the field was because of an Elton John concert that was held on the 5th of August. “I think they had a concert so there was some stuff here and there, but it wasn’t any crazy, bad or anything like that, I love playing here at Soldier Field, It’s an awesome stadium,” KC Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes stated. Fox Sports analyst Colin Cowherd was not happy with the stadium either, “Every time I watch a Chicago Bears home game, I’m left wondering if the field was used as a driving range the week before,” he criticized the team. NFL fans online had a field day trolling the Bears as well over the dilapidated condition of the field.
Now we know why.
Not with his music, that’s for sure.
Players have to get used to it if it is consistently bad.
This is not it.
That explains it.
