Brock Purdy, Mr. Irrelevant is not your conventional quarterback. Nothing about him screams ‘typical NFL quarterback’. From being the 262nd pick in the 2022 NFL Draft to succeeding as a starter on the San Francisco 49ers, a team with one of the most sophisticated offensive playbooks in the league, Purdy has shown that he is special. However, there is one more thing that is fascinating about Brock Purdy, his dressing sense.
At his most recent press conference ahead of the San Francisco 49ers matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, Purdy pulled up to the podium wearing a backward hat. The QB rocked a classic early 1990s look that was made popular by rappers. Colin Cowherd, the star of The Herd had a lot to say regarding the QB’s choice of outfit for his press conference.
Colin Cowherd had this to say, “There is one thing that makes me pause on San Francisco., you know I’m a big believer, I like my quarterbacks to be adults, I don’t want them to be frat boys.”
He went on to cite the example of Jalen Hurts and praised him for the manner in which he carried and presented himself:
Jalen Hurts at the podium is the best podium QB in the league. Hat on forward, a professional, almost manicured, got that CEO-like real grown up.
Colin Cowherd is sick of Brock Purdy carrying himself around like a frat boy
Hurts carries himself around like a true professional. A look at him before the game or during any of his pressers will lead one to think that this man means business. Now, Colin called out Brock Purdy for the manner in which he presented himself at the press conference:
Brock Purdy...you got a hat on backwards, he's not a franchise quarterback. If that guy came to move your couch, you'd be like 'Are you a professional?
The analyst criticized Brock Purdy for dressing up too casually, especially ahead of a game as important as the one this Sunday night. While Colin admitted that he was “probably overstating” it and that Purdy is “probably a nice kid” things like this matter. Especially when a player is in the position that the QB finds himself in.
A franchise quarterback represents the team wherever he goes, with his dressing sense, his professionalism. his attitude is all a reflection of the entire team. That is why it is such a big deal to be a starting QB in the NFL, you are not just representing yourself but the entire organization, it is similar to the role of being a CEO of a company, whatever you say or do, will ultimately have an impact on how your team is perceived.
So Brock Purdy wore a backwards hat…@ColinCowherd, care to chime in? pic.twitter.com/V8IyL4OVAd

Colin Cowherd clarified his stance by saying that he does not oppose wearing a hat backwards:
I'm not saying you can't wear it backwards in the garage, playing frisbee but...franchise quarterback, Wednesday podium, Jalen Hurts is how you want to look...CEO, respectful to the owner and the organization.
It is not the backwards hat, Colin Cowherd wants Brock Purdy to present himself like a franchise QB rather than a frat boy.
That is an interesting tagline heading into Sunday’s matchup between the 49ers and the Eagles, Frat boy Vs CEO, who will have the last laugh?
