Fuming over the Cowboys not getting Dalton Kincaid, Skip Bayless HARSHLY ridicules Luke Schoonmaker claiming he has ‘nothing elite’ in him

The Dallas Cowboys addressed the tight end position in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. The Cowboys drafted the Michigan tight end Luke Schoonmaker to replace their former tight end Dalton Schultz. Many Cowboys fans are excited about the pick but Skip Bayless ridicules Schoonmaker claiming he has nothing elite in him like the Buffalo Bills draft choice Dalton Kincaid.
The Cowboys had the 26th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and were sitting in a perfect spot to draft the No.1 tight end prospect in this year’s draft class Dalton Kincaid. However, the Buffalo Bills traded with the Jacksonville Jaguars to move ahead of the Cowboys and drafted the Utah tight end. This move was devastating for the Cowboys nation who thought they were getting a premium tight end prospect.
The general manager Jerry Jones then settled for a defensive player and drafted DT Mazi Smith with the 26th overall pick. Smith is a great prospect but he’s not a tight end. After a mishap in the first round, the Dallas-based football managed to address their need at the tight end position by reaching for Luke Schoonmaker with their 58th overall pick during the second day of the draft.
Skip Bayless is not excited about Luke Schoonmaker
The long-time Cowboys fanatic and Fox Sports analyst Skip Bayless is not excited about his team drafting Luke Schoonmaker. Bayless is still upset about the Bills moving up ahead of self-proclaimed America’s team to select Dalton Kincaid. He took to social media to ridicule Schoonmaker’s athletic abilities.
“Luke Schoonmaker will make a decent NFL tight end, as much for his blocking as his catching. Nothing elite about him as a pass-catcher. Along with Ferguson and Hendershot, will make the Cowboys adequate at TE. BUT THE GRAND PRIZE WAS DALTON KINCAID,” tweeted Bayless.
Furthermore, some fans were upset that the Cowboys drafted Schoonmaker when the Georgia Bulldogs tight end prospect Darnell Washington was still on the board. Washington was projected to be drafted inside the first round. But for some reason, he kept slipping on the draft boards. According to reports, some teams took him off the draft board over alleged medical issues.
Anyhow, the Pittsburgh Steelers eventually scooped up Darnell Washington with the 93rd overall pick. The Steelers already have Pat Freiermuth on their roster and with the addition of Washington, the Steelers now boasts one of the scariest tight end rooms in the league.
