Looks like the Dallas Cowboys star quarterback has moved a step forward in the MVP race, as he has been ranked second in the NFL MVP odds, after the 41-35 win over the Seahawks. And these coming five weeks will decide whether Dak Prescott deserves the MVP title or not.
As the NFL enters its last phase of December, the final few weeks remain until the postseason began. The Cowboys, who are standing at 9-3, have finally scored a victory over a team with a winning record on Thursday. In the following weeks, the team would face the Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, and finally the Detroit Lions on December 30th.
In the game against the Seahawks, the quarterback Prescott gave a stellar performance with 299 yards and three touchdowns, recording the best run of his entire football career. This has brought him a step closer to winning the MVP award, as he became No. 2 in NFL MVP odds, behind Jalen Hurts.
Analyzing the last six games of Dallas, the quarterback has completed 72.3% of his passes, throwing for 1,874 yards and 18 touchdowns with two interceptions. If the quarterback keeps on playing at his pace, then there are fair chances that he will win the MVP award, since Emmitt Smith in 1993 did for the Cowboys.
After Jalen Hurts, Patrick Mahomes, and Lamar Jackson, Prescott had the fourth-shortest odds to win the MVP award, at +380. Although Dallas’ quarterback is leading in completion percentage, passing yards, and touchdowns, he is lagging behind in quality wins that his peers have.
How has Dak Prescott perform this NFL season so far?
This season, the Cowboys quarterback Prescott has emerged as a phenomenal offensive player across the league. His 299-yard performance on Thursday has even forced his critics to appreciate the quarterback.
Prior to this season, there were a lot of doubts surrounding QB Prescott’s ability to lead to offense in limiting interceptions and turnovers. However, he had stood well this season logging just six interceptions in 12 games this season.
Not just that, the Cowboys quarterback has recorded an amazing 3,234 passing yards and 26 touchdowns in the last 12 games of the 2023 NFL season. The Mississippi State alumni also has the highest QBR in the league of 75.5 in the last 12 appearances. With his stellar performance this season, the quarterback is close to surpassing all his career highs.
