“That’s on him,” Dak Prescott has an UNDERWHELMING response to the infamous 1957 photo of Jerry Jones at a desegregation rally

Dak Prescott defended Jerry Jones and responded to LeBron James comments.

Jerry Jones is arguably one of the most popular and outspoken owner-operators in the NFL. The billionaire is often in the news for hyping his Dallas Cowboys. However, this time, Jones is in the news for all the wrong reasons. Recently, The Washington Post dug deep into the archives and came across a 1957 image of Jones at a rally. The issue with this is that the protest in question was a desegregation protest.

A 14-year-old Jerry Jones is seen to be amongst a crowd of white students that was not permitting Black students from entering a high school in Little Rock, Arkansas. Jones, when questioned about this, stated that he was a mere spectator and was in his sophomore year, he was not able to fathom what was really going on at the protest.

Of course, it was just a matter of time before the billionaire began to receive criticism for this picture, but the outrage was not as much as one would usually witness when such matters come out into the public domain. The lack of attention or shortage of prime-time coverage that it got irked LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers, who believed the media was not doing the right thing by staying silent on this issue.

He took offense to the fact that his former teammate and prominent Black athlete Kyrie Irving has recently been subjected to widespread criticism himself after sharing a controversial documentary relating to Jewish people. Bron was surprised that when the Kyrie Irving fiasco took place, the media wasted no time bombarding him with questions. However, when this image of Jones leaked, the media did not ask him a single question relating to this subject.

Dak Prescott had a diplomatic response when asked about Jerry Jones:

Dak Precott believes Jerry Jones has become a better person and deserves to be forgiven.
Dak Prescott believes Jerry Jones has become a better person and deserves to be forgiven.

Here’s the gist of what Bron had to say, “When the Kyrie thing was going, you guys were quick to ask us questions about that…Jerry Jones photo is one of those moments that our people have been through in America. As a Black athlete, when we do something wrong or something that people don’t agree with, it’s on every single tabloid, every single news coverage, it’s asked about everyday. But it seems like the whole Jerry Jones situation, seems like it’s been buried…”

You can read his full statement here. LeBron did make a fair point here and the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, Dak Prescott, was quizzed about his thoughts on this situation and LeBron’s comments in particular. Dak appeared to be rather hesitant as he knew he was treading over a sensitive subject. In the position that he is, taking sides may not always go the best way.

Here’s what Dak had to say, “As a guy that is completely biracial, Black and white, it’s easy for me to speak on race on one side or another and I don’t know if I’ve fully processed it all the way honestly. I think whether LeBron is talking about the picture, that’s for Jerry to address, in the same sense it’s 65-years-ago. “

Elaborating further, Prescott thought out the statement while making it to the media, “How times have changed, look at the man’s resume since then. I give grace and I think that’s a conversation and question not just for him but also for you guys(media) and how y’all feel how accountable you have been in covering and discussing the disparities in race. It wasn’t that long ago, that we were all sitting out on different sides and that we weren’t together. I wouldn’t be here if it were still that way. But I believe in grace and change. Those are questions for Jerry and y’all honestly,” Prescott concludes.

Dak’s response was rather diplomatic, and he does believe that Jones deserves the benefit of the doubt. While it may be the case considering he was just 14 when this happened, the owner-operator has improved and has not shown us any element of racism.
