“Welcome to Miami” – Dalvin Cook’s CRYPTIC tweet increases tensions amongst Jets and Dolphins fans over his future in the NFL

During the 2023 off-season, the Minnesota Vikings shockingly released their star running back Dalvin Cook in a cost-cutting move. Cook, now an unrestricted free-agent running back, has been involved in negotiations with the Miami Dolphins and the New York Jets per reports. He hasn’t signed an official deal yet.

Amidst this situation, the 4-time Pro Bowl running back’s cryptic tweet has left fans making speculations about his future in the league. Cook shared the smiling face with sunglasses emoji. Initially, it might not strike as much, but the NFL fans are insinuating that Cook is implying that he has inked a contract with a new franchise in the league.

The 27-year-old running back has played 6 seasons in the league. He was released by the Vikings to save some cap space. The Vikings tried to trade Cook, but they ended up releasing him since no one was willing to take up his expensive contract. Now, Cook is estimated to sign a new contract in the range of $12-14 million per multiple reports.

Cook has been linked to the Jets, Dolphins, and New England Patriots from the beginning. The 5’10” running back previously expressed his interest to work with the Miami-based football team. However, he hasn’t officially signed a contract with any team yet.

Cook also faced some off-field issues as some news broke out that he allegedly offered his ex-girlfriend Gracelyn Trimble $1 million to drop assault allegations regarding the incident from Nov. 19, 2020. The 4-time Pro Bowler could face a suspension if the allegations from her ex-girlfriend turn out to be true. That could also be a reason for Cook to be remaining a free agent this deep in the off-season.

Cook was a massive asset for the Vikings in the offensive backfield. The talented running back registered 4 consecutive Pro Bowl seasons. Last year, Cook registered 1,173 rushing yards and 10 total touchdowns.

Cook’s expensive contract was the only reason the Vikings released him back in June. Production-wise, he is still one of the top running backs in the league and any team would greatly benefit from adding him to the roster, given that his off-field fiascos don’t haunt him in the future.
