Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders dropped by to cheer for the Dallas Cowboys, joined by his son, Shedeur Sanders, on Thursday night. Even though he was in Arlington to relive the AT&T atmosphere, Sanders was still working.

Before the Cowboys locked horns against the Seattle Seahawks, Coach Prime visited Amazon’s Thursday Night Football Tonight pregame desk. There, he caught up with former NFL stars Tony Gonzalez, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Richard Sherman, and Andrew Whitworth, along with the host, Charissa Thompson.

As the college football season came to an end, every big program has been on the hunt to make changes and possibly strengthen their team according to their needs. Sanders, being the HC of the Buffaloes, took a chance and tried to recruit the esteemed panel for various posts on his team.

Sanders said with a big grin on his face:

I’m recruiting right now, and I need one of you, two of you, five of you, and a few of you.

He was particularly interested in snapping up Whitworth, who went to four Pro Bowls and was a two-time All-Pro in his 16-year NFL career. The “five of you” was directed at the 41-year-old retired tackle.

Why did Deion Sanders single out Andrew Whitworth?

It’s a no-brainer, really. Colorado was atrocious at defense in Sanders’ first season in charge of the Boulder school. The Buffs only managed to secure four wins from 12 games—three more than the previous years. And the main culprit behind the horrible win record is a struggling defense.

When Sanders arrived in Colorado, he recruited more than 80 players to start from scratch. All four of their wins came in the first six games, in which they scored at least 27 points on five occasions. However, they were conceding at a similar pace as well. The Buffs did not win a single game and finished with a .333 record, dropping out of the AP rankings. One might think that it couldn’t get any worse, but it did. Players and coaches started to decommit from the program.

Days after their final loss against Utah, Class of 2024 three-star quarterback Danny O’Neil, Class of 2025 three-star running back Jamarice Walker, and 2025 quarterback four-star recruit Antwann Hill left to try their luck elsewhere.

Even Buffs offensive coordinator Tim Brewster resigned from his post and is now the assistant head coach of the Charlotte 49ers football team. There’s speculation that, in the coming few years, others may follow in Brewster’s footsteps as well.

Witnessing the slow exodus of players, Deion Sanders called and took a jab at them. He said that if a boy can’t be faithful to a girl, then how can he be faithful to his team? This has sparked a massive outrage on the internet. But Sanders didn’t bat an eye to such negativity and went to recruit reinforcements.
