The Baltimore Ravens-Lamar Jackson contract extension drama took a new turn after the star quarterback revealed on Twitter a couple of days back that he requested a trade from the team on March 2. Soon fans started spewing out insane theories all across social media with some citing racism to be the reason for teams not showing any interest in signing Jackson to the roster.

Lamar Jackson was also accused of deliberately sitting out the last five-six games of the 2022 and 2021 seasons. The 26-year-old came forward and cleared it out in a Twitter thread. “I don’t remember me sitting out on my guys week 1 vs jets To week 12 vs Broncos. How come all of a sudden I sit out because of money in which I could’ve got hurt at anytime within that time frame When we know the Super Bowl been on my mind since April 2018. Let’s get real. I rather have a 100% PCL than go out there and play horrible forcing myself to put my guys in a bad situation now that’s selfish to me.”

The Ravens quarterback suffered a PCL injury in Week 13 that kept him from playing for the rest of the season. He also did not start in the old card game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Jackson even updated his fans before the playoff game he hasn’t recovered from his injury and is sitting out of the game.

Deion Sanders, one of the greatest cornerbacks in NFL history who was silently watching the Lamar Jackson contract fiasco finally had a piece of advice for the young gunslinger. “Stop explaining Yourself to fools and allow fools to be fools. A brother trying that’s strong, believes in himself and willing to stand for what he believes will always be misunderstood & judged by fools of all ethnicities. Love ya my brother and “I Believe in You” ! #CoachPrime” Sanders wrote in Jackson’s latest tweet.

There is truth to what the 2x Super Bowl champion said. Lamar Jackson shouldn’t have to explain to teams why he sat out of a game when he clearly hadn’t recovered from an injury. Veteran journalist Chris Mortensen reported team owners were worried about the 2019 NFL MVP’s sleeping schedule and diet which led to his consecutive injuries.

Owners are worried about the output Jackson will put up if he is signed to a $200 million fully guaranteed deal. Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank recently spoke out and revealed why his team is not pursuing Jackson. Blank said, “There is some concern about whether or not he can play his style of game for.. how long that can last.”

There are a lot of things and concerns that have come forward from teams since Lamar Jackson revealed he is looking for a trade. This drama has gone on for too long and at this point, any questions being asked about the quarterback are just blatant disrespect. Let’s see if at least one team is willing to put their trust in Jackson to win them the Super Bowl or does he fade away?
