The Cleveland Browns signed QB Deshaun Watson in March 2022. He missed his first 11 games of the 2022 season due to a suspension. There were lots of doubts surrounding Watson and his ability to perform for the Browns after a lengthy absence from the game in 2022. Browns and Watson started the season with a win over division rivals the Cincinnati Bengals. Although Watson did not perform up to expectations, he managed to lead his team to an impressive victory.

The Browns played their next game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday. They lost the game 26-22, with Watson having a poor game. He completed only 22 of his 40 pass attempts and had an interception. He also fumbled the ball twice, one of which resulted in a fourth-quarter go-ahead touchdown by the Steelers’ defenseman, T.J. Watt.

Watson signed a 5-year, $230 million contract with the Browns, making him one of the highest-paid QBs in the league. All of his $230 million is guaranteed, with an average annual salary of $46 million. After a poor performance against the Steelers, fans on social media slammed Watson and the Browns. Some fans called it the ‘worst contract in football history,’ while others questioned if Watson was ever a good QB.

The Browns bought in Watson after trading Baker Mayfield, their former first overall pick at quarterback, to the Carolina Panthers. Watson was accused of sexual assault in 2021 after he requested a trade from the Houston Texans. Watson has played only eight games since the 2021 season. He and the Browns will hope to bounce back in their next game against the Tennessee Titans on September 24.

Deshaun Watson remains positive even after a bad loss to the Steelers

Deshaun Watson and the Cleveland Browns had a tough game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday. Watson started the game with a pick-6 to Steelers’ linebacker Alex Highsmith, and the Browns also lost their star RB Nick Chubb for the remainder of the season due to a knee injury.

The Browns still had a chance, but Watson and the offense failed to score a TD late in the fourth quarter, giving the Steelers the victory. After the game, Watson remained confident about the Browns despite a tough loss. “Every time we step on the field, you have to feel positive,” Watson said. “You have to have that confidence. You know, even when the momentum is not going our way, we to change that. We have to find ways to flip that momentum, especially being on the road in a hostile environment. So you just have to go out there and just try to make plays, and the plays didn’t go our way towards the end.”

Watson and the Browns will host the Tennessee Titans in their next game, and they will hope to get a better result than Monday. However, with Chubb out for the season, the onus will be on Watson to deliver on his massive contract.
