“Scary”: Emmanuel Ogbah warns the rest of the NFL to watch out as the Miami Dolphins’ defense is coming to haunt them this season

The Miami Dolphins have gotten immensely better this offseason, the team has made significant upgrades on the offensive side but the defense of the team performed rather well last year during their 8-1 run down the stretch. The team had a much better season this year and came very close to making the postseason. The reason for this was their defense which proved vital in clutch moments.

With 29.1 points per game allowed, 406.9 yards per game, and an average record of 1.5 sacks per contest through the first 8 weeks, Miami’s defense tightened it up and fave just 15.6 points per game, 276.9 yards per game, and a total of 4.0 sacks per game in the final nine games. Very impressive indeed.

The Miami Dolphins defense is stacked

Dolphins Defensive End Emmanuel Ogbah who has signed a 4-year $65 million contract this offseason to return to Miami spoke to Pro Football Network and claimed that the team has the potential to come out the gates swinging and carry on that momentum that it had down the stretch last year.

“The defense, for sure, can be scary this year because we all know each other, we all know what each other are capable of, our strengths and our weaknesses. We’re all going to help each other and compete with each other. it’s an exciting time for the defense. We’re excited,” Ogbah adds.

The team has bonded a lot this offseason and they have quite a lot to prove. This offseason was not good for the Dolphins internally as an organization because former Head Coach Brian Flores was compelled to file a lawsuit against the organization. The team seems to have gone throw this and grown through it as well.

“We’re looking good right now, but we’ve got to compete. You shouldn’t sleep, but we’re just going to do our job. You can keep sleeping on us, but we’re just going to keep handling our responsibilities,” he states. The Dolphins’ defense is stacked with cornerbacks Xavien Howard and Byron Jones, edge rushers Jaelan Phillips and Melvin Ingram, defensive tackle Christian Wilkins, linebacker Jerome Baker, and safeties Brandon Jones and Jevon Holland.

Ogbah himself leads the team in sacks with 18 recorded so far and he has 45 QB hits since 2020 which ranks him in the top 10 in the entire league. The vet is looking for a big season from Jaelan Phillips who was second behind Micah Parsons amongst rookies in terms of sacks and QB hits.

“Jaelan surprised me this offseason, he has the mentality. I’m excited to see his growth this year. I’m excited to see him work, and we go Melvin, too. I’m excited for him to be a part of the team,” he concludes.
