The Miami Dolphins are off to an excellent start. They have one of the best offenses in the league, with weapons all over the field. They started the season 3-1 and poured in 70 points on the Denver Broncos in week 3. They are apparently adding another young WR to their roster. According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the Dolphins are trading for the Chicago Bears’ wideout Chase Claypool.
Claypool joined the Bears in the middle of last season. Since coming to Chicago, Claypool has struggled to make an impact on the Bears. He came under a lot of criticism for his lack of effort in the Bears’ Week 1 loss to the Green Bay Packers this season. There was improvement in his performance in the following weeks, but the Bears eventually decided to move on from him.
The Bears also traded 2025 draft picks, with the Dolphins giving a sixth-rounder and receiving the Bears’ seventh-round pick. Claypool did not play in the Bears’ last two games, as he was declared a healthy scratch for both of those games. He recently called out the Bears for not using him properly, and that resulted in the team asking him not to attend the Bears’ Week 4 game against the Denver Broncos.
Claypool, 25, was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. After a good couple of seasons with the Steelers, Claypool’s performances dipped in the 2022 season, and he was traded to the Bears mid-season. He will now join one of the best offenses in the league and will look to revive his career in Miami.
Fans have mixed reactions to the Chase Claypool to Dolphins trade
Chase Claypool’s brief stint with the Chicago Bears has come to an end. The Miami Dolphins have traded for the WR to bolster their already elite wide receiver core. Claypool had a terrible start to his 2023 season as he was told not to attend the Bears’ Week 4 game against the Denver Broncos and wasn’t a part of the team’s first win against the Washington Commanders.
Evidently, he was not happy with the way the Chicago-based team was using him. However, he will now get a fresh start with a contending team and will hope to help the Dolphins make a deep postseason run. Fans on social media, though, have mixed reactions to the trade.
Sharing a wide spectrum of reactions online, here’s what fans have to say:
However, some fans are excited with the trade. Claypool’s addition gives the Dolphins an extra receiver to work with. Their offense might become even more dangerous.
The Dolphins won their first three games of the season before suffering a devastating loss against the Buffalo Bills last Sunday. They will look to bounce back against the New York Giants on Sunday at the Hard Rock Stadium.
