Last week’s matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and the San Francisco 49ers was nothing short of intense. While the Eagles got the brakes beat off them, as they lost 42-19, an altercation ensued upon the sidelines between a staff member of the team and linebacker Dre Greenlaw of the 49ers.

This incident has led the Philadelphia Eagles to take a drastic measure and after Dom DiSandro, the Eagles Head of security, who got into it with Dre Greenlaw last Sunday is being restricted from the team’s sideline for Sunday night’s game against the Dallas Cowboys. It is not a season-long suspension, his access to the sidelines has been limited for one night as per Pro Football Talk.

The team in its statement said,

This is an ongoing conversation with the NFL, and we are going to respect the restriction that is currently in place. Although Dom will not be on the sidelines this Sunday, he will continue to fulfill his role with the team in all other capacities.

The head of security will remain with the team and travel to AT&T Stadium.

The NFL is still reviewing Dom DiSandro’s involvement in the altercation with Dre Greenlaw

Dom DiSandro and the Eagles had to meet Commissioner Roger Goodell over his altercation with Dre Greenlaw in New York, while this is his punishment for the interim, there is a chance that the NFL decides to penalize him with an extended suspension after it concludes its review of all the material accessible to it. Even the 49ers’ legend Jerry Rice had his say on the matter.

In addition to this, the NFL went to the length of sending a memo to all teams on Wednesday reminding them to make sure

that all members of your game-day staff understand that their role does not extend to being involved with game day altercations and they must refrain from such involvement.

Despite their fight, Dre Greenlaw and Dom DiSandro have mended things between them. 49ers manager John Lynch served as an intermediary for the same. The linebacker stated,

We just exchanged a formal apology just between me and some of the same people that we do know in the building and stuff like that. He seemed like a genuine guy. Seemed like a guy everybody loved in the building. So, I hate that, honestly. I really hate that it even escalated and went to that.

The linebacker was fined $10,927 for his hit on DeVonta Smith which resulted in the fight. Kyle Shanahan, HC for the 49ers, had also expressed surprise over the involvement of a staff member in an altercation between players following the game.
