“He was the ultimate scapegoat,” Emmanuel Acho believes Nathaniel Hackett was fired to save Russell Wilson’s face

Russell Wilson and Emmanuel Acho and Nathaniel Hackett
Nathaniel Hackett and the Denver Broncos parted ways on Monday after their catastrophic loss against the Los Angeles Rams. Many people, including former NFL player Emmanuel Acho, believe Hackett was fired before he even completed his first season to hide their expensive QB Russell Wilson’s failures.
It’s no secret Russell Wilson is having the worst season in his NFL career so far. He is projected to end this season with 14 touchdowns, which would be the lowest in his career. His lowest number of touchdowns in a season is when he threw for 20 touchdowns during his third season with the Seattle Seahawks. In short, signing Wilson in the 2022 off-season hasn’t worked out well for the Broncos, which might’ve played some part in Hackett’s firing this early in his tenure.
Nathaniel Hackett, however, was bad on his own all season long. He made a series of bone-headed decisions in his brief tenure, which eventually got him fired before the end of the season. Hackett was also bad with time management and had to appoint a guy specifically for timekeeping, which has been traditionally the job of the head coach.
Hackett’s leadership also came under some questioning after a few heated incidents between Broncos teammates were caught by the sideline cameras. Even though Hackett was hired because of his offensive accolades, his tenure at Broncos will be regarded as a mess in that department.
The rookie head coach had spent his last three years in Green Bay Packers as an offensive coordinator. During his tenure, Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers won back-to-back NFL MVP honors. But that didn’t convert to his new job as Broncos struggled offensively all season even after an upgrade at quarterback.
Emmanuel Acho goes harsh on Russell Wilson

Former NFL player Emmanuel Acho believes Hackett was fired to hide Russell Wilson’s mistakes. Speaking on his show SPEAK in a recent episode, Acho said he is disappointed with the Broncos’ decision to fire Hackett. He believes Hackett was used as a scapegoat. Acho believes Hackett got fired because the Broncos are stuck with Russell Wilson and that may be the reason for such decisions.
“He’s the ultimate scapegoat,” said Acho on Nathaniel Hackett’s firing. “Russell Wilson is tethered to this team because of his guaranteed money,” Acho continued. “Nathaniel Hackett wasn’t the worst of problems, Russell Wilson was the worst of problems.”
The former LB also gave some credit to Hackett for Rodgers’ back-to-back MVP performances before noting that he couldn’t have possibly got this bad within a such short time. “This has much more to do with Russell Wilson than it does (with) Nathaniel Hackett,” said Acho.
The Denver Broncos and Wilson’s rough season might end even worse as they have to go against two playoff teams the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers with an interim head coach to close out their season.
