Ex-Panthers QB Cam Newton discloses David Tepper will try to hire Bill Belichick this offseason after firing Frank Reich

Newton believes that Tepper would willingly hand over most of the power to Belichick if he joined the Panthers.

The Bill Belichick horror show with the New England Patriots continued when they went down 10-7 against the New York Giants and currently sit at 2-9. If reports from Barstool host Eric Sollenberger are to be believed, then the veteran head coach could leave Boston and head for the capital to manage the Washington Commanders.

On the other hand, former NFL MVP Cam Newton has another destination in mind for Belichick. The ex-Carolina Panthers quarterback has thrown in the name of his former employers, considering the state the franchise is in.

Carolina is in a similar situation, with a worse record (1–10) than New England. As a result, owner David Tepper fired head coach Frank Reich after just 11 games in charge of the Panthers. Newton believes that he can predict what Tepper’s next move could be if he goes out shopping for a full-time replacement. In the meantime, Special Teams Coordinator Chris Tabor will serve as the interim head coach.

I think Tepper, knowing what I do know, is hoping that he can land Bill Belichick. That right, there will be a win-win-win for David Tepper.

Cam Newton revealed why he thinks David Tepper will bring Bill Belichick to the Carolina Panthers

The New England Patriots currently seem like a sinking vessel that is waiting for an explosion to happen, and most will jump ship at a moment’s notice (at least not willingly). Yet, two decades prior to the dumpster fire, they were considered the most dominant team to ever play in the NFL. Under the stewardship of coach Belichick, they won six Super Bowls (more than any coach).

However, that story of romanticism is quickly coming to an end—probably not the ending the Foxboro natives would have wanted to see. Even though Belichick once said he would retire after hitting 70, that’s out of the window because there’s no sign of him calling it quits soon. The next best course of action would be to move on to a franchise that would suit his skill set. And Cam Newton thinks the Carolina Panthers are in that place.

Newton added.

The thing that I know would be the enticing lure to it is because Tepper will give him everything that he would need. And also, that will allow Belichick to say, 'You know what? Things didn't work out (at New England), but now I can show you I can do it somewhere else.

Tepper giving Belichick most of the power does make sense. However, he has been doing the same with the Patriots, and it has only gone downhill since Tom Brady left. The 71-year-old may fix the defense (is 7th for 304.5 yards allowed per game), but it’s on offense that they struggle the most, which is why he signed Bryce Young as the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Judging by the results, even an avid Panthers supporter would say Young’s rookie season is a complete failure. The Alabama product has a completion percentage of only 61.7% (27th) while throwing 9 touchdowns and 8 interceptions.
