The Denver Broncos selected Faion Hicks in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL draft. The 25-year-old played college football at Wisconsin and started in 2017. Hicks was a three-star recruit coming out of high school as per 24/7 Sports and Rivals.com.

In his rookie season, Faion Hicks played just two games and all of his snaps were on the special teams. He is yet to make a start on the defense and given his recent conviction, the chance of Hicks making it to the 53-man roster seems slim to none. NFL players being arrested are setting up a bad example for young kids who are looking to make it to the big leagues. Players carrying guns and roaming freely on the streets reflect badly on the team and the league. Players should be held to the highest standards because kids try to emulate them because they are superstars in the football world.

Given the rising gun violence in the country, NFL players should speak out against it since they have the means and the opportunity to do so. If even these stars will start carrying guns without permits then what message does that send to young children looking to join the league someday?

Anyway, the police will take appropriate action against Faion Hicks. The Broncos’ decision is yet to be revealed as no representative has come forward to acknowledge the issue.
