“Get this trash franchise out of here,” NFL fans baffled by Commanders’ embarrassing memorial statue unveil of Sean Taylor

“Get this trash franchise out of here,” NFL fans baffled by Commanders’ embarrassing memorial statue unveil of Sean Taylor

Sean Taylor played four seasons for the Commanders and was considered a cult hero of the squad. The safety also earned a couple of Pro Bowl nods.

Taylor was drafted in 2004 by the Commanders and enjoyed a great time with the team. However, in 2007, the free safety had intruders in his home who shot him, and the Commanders safety succumbed to his injuries the following day.

The Commanders’ fans were heartbroken after the incident as they lost a team legend way too early. To commemorate the former Safety, the team unveiled the highly anticipated Taylor memorial at FedEx Stadium.

However, the statue looked nothing like Taylor. Instead; it looked like a mannequin wearing a Commanders’ jersey. The fans felt insulted by this and quickly demanded a change.

The mannequin was made of black wire and the Commanders couldn’t even manage to get matching branded gear for a legend who lost his life so early.

Taylor’s family members were the ones who unveiled the supposed statue, and even they look disheartened by the wire mannequin. This made people question the authenticity and pointed out that the Commanders were doing this just to get some publicity. Although the only thing they managed to get with this was even more hate.

Sean Taylor’s memorial was highly anticipated by the fans and seeing the final product understandably made them disappointed. The fans were furious and quickly hit back at the owners and Commanders’ management for presenting a wire mannequin.

The Commanders had hyped up the launch of the statue only to be criticized by the fans for an underwhelming display of Taylor’s legacy.

NFL Twitter was furious and called out the franchise and the Snyders for messing up the memorial. The unveiling looked half-done and forced throughout as the Commanders didn’t even have a matching jersey on Taylor’s memorial.

This incident was sad for everyone who loved Taylor and Twitter did its best to try to point it out by criticizing the team and their owners.

Sean Taylor’s disappointing memorial will bring lots of heat for Dan Snyder from the media as the Commanders aren’t even performing well on the field. The team is last in their highly contested division as they face the Giants in their next game.
