The Pittsburgh Steelers led by their former first-round pick Kenny Pickett successfully defeated their AFC North division rivals Cleveland Browns on Monday night in their week 2 matchup. However, Pickett and the Steelers’ offense didn’t look so great in the game and was bailed out by their remarkable defense. During the exciting football game, the fans even got mad and chanted against the Steelers’ offensive coordinator Matt Canada.
The Steelers fans have been calling for the head of the offensive coordinator Matt Canada for multiple seasons now. In this particular game, Canada called many questionable plays but one particular play angered the fans the most. During the final minutes of the fourth quarter, the Steelers were leading by 4 points and were facing a crucial third down.
Matt Canada called for a read option on third and 1 which did not go well. The Steelers QB Kenny Pickett decided to keep the ball and bolt but was quickly brought down by 2 Browns defenders behind the line of scrimmage for the loss of a couple of yards. That questionable play call on the crucial 3rd down angered the Pittsburgh home crowd. The crowd started loud chants of “Fire Canada” as Pickett and Canada were discussing the play on the Steelers’ sidelines. Check out the footage attached below.
Canada’s mistake didn’t cost the Steelers a lot as Pittsburgh’s defense prevented the Browns’ offense from scoring further points. In the end, the Steelers won the game 26-22 and improved to 1-1. In the game, the Steelers defense interestingly had more points (14 points) than the offense (12 points). In brief, the Steelers won the game despite their lackluster offense led by Matt Canada.

Kenny Pickett didn’t hear the fire Canada chants
The Steelers fans made their feelings towards the team’s offensive coordinator clear when they started loud chants of Fire Canada during the final quarter of their game against the Browns on Monday.
However, the Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett claimed he didn’t hear any chants according to the Gazette reporter Ray Fittipaldo. Pickett was either extremely focused on the game or he’s straight lying about not hearing the loud chants.
Nonetheless, despite the Steelers’ lackluster offense, Matt Canada continues to be the OC of the Pittsburgh-based franchise. He will now look to shut down his critics and the haters by leading the Steelers’ offense to a good outing against the Las Vegas Raiders in their week 3 game.
