Former Buffalo Bills defensive end Marcellus Wiley dismisses the idea of transgender athletes participating and competing with biological women in sports. This issue has been a talking point in media for a long time and now the former Pro Bowl edge rusher Wiley decided to chime in to share his opinion regarding the sensitive issue.

Wiley, a father of a son and a daughter, shared a video on his social media accounts where he elaborated on his stand on the issue in detail. “I have no issue with transgenders,” started Wiley about this issue. “I do have an issue with athletes who are transgendered trying to participate going from a transition of a man to a woman and now playing with the women.”

Wiley then went on to claim that he is cool with transgenders but he will not allow them to compete with his daughters in women’s sports. “You can be a transgender. You can be the homie, but I’ll be damned if a male at birth turns into a female and tries to compete against my daughters. She ain’t out there. We out,” said Wiley.

The former Bills DE also asked people to stop painting this as a human rights issue. “Don’t make this a human rights issue – this is a biological issue. Simple as that,” said Willey. “I hate saying fair, but it’s just not even right, forget fair it’s not right.”

Marcellus Wiley spent 10 years in the NFL as a defensive end. That is almost 7 years more than the average career of a defensive lineman. The Columbia product was drafted in the second round of the 1997 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills.

It took 3 years for the edge rusher to click in the league. During his 4th year with the Bills he registered double-digit sacks, which eventually led him to secure a second contract in the league but with a different team.

The 6-4′ DE immediately blew up with his team San Diego Chargers as he managed to register a career-high 13 sacks in a season that got him his only Pro Bowl nod. However, that was the peak of his career, since he never managed to repeat that kind of production again.

The Pro Bowler then went on to have a couple of short stints with the Cowboys and the Jaguars before he eventually retired in 2006. Then he went on to have a successful career as an analyst with FS1 and ESPN for more than a decade.
