Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo caught a stray during the XFL game between the San Antonio Brahmas and St. Louis BattleHawks. Those who watched the XFL game would’ve busted out laughing at the hilarious joke by the XFL broadcaster Matt Barrie about QB Tony Romo and the Cowboys’ lack of playoff success.

The XFL has been rebooted for a new season which started last weekend. On Sunday, during the first quarter of the game between Brahmas and BattleHawks, the Brahmas kicker John Parker Romo converted a field goal to put three points on the board for his team. During the sequence, the XFL commentator Barrie brutally trolled the former Pro Bowl QB Tony Romo, who never played in the Super Bowl.

“By my math, you’ve got a Romo playing football in Texas in February,” Barrie said, referring to Tony Romo’s zero Super Bowl appearances, which usually happens in February. In fact, the Dallas Cowboys haven’t even made the Conference Championship game since 1995. The 4-time Pro Bowler won two wild-card games against the Philadelphia Eagles and the Detroit Lions. The farthest he has been to in the postseason is the divisional round.

Anyhow, the BattleHawks ended up winning the game against the Brahmas despite trailing 15-3 during the final minutes of the game. The BattleHawks somehow scored 15 points in the final two minutes to secure the victory.

From receiving backlashes for his commentary during the 2022 regular season to catching strays in the XFL game, the former Cowboys QB Tony Romo is certainly not having a good start to his 2023.

The color commentator was once beloved by the fans for his valuable insights into the game and his mostly accurate predictions. However, during the 2022 season, the fans for some reason turned on Romo, but that doesn’t seem to phase the Cowboys legend.

“You can’t please everyone,” said Romo in an interview with BroBible. “The thing is, the people who really love you aren’t going to keep going out of their way to say, ‘I love you.’ They’re not going to keep tweeting, ‘He’s the best,’ every week, right? So, that goes away, and then you hear more negative stuff, but that’s just noise.”

Anyhow, the Dallas legend who played 13 years for Jerry Jones‘ Cowboys is contracted to CBS for at least the next 3 seasons with a salary of roughly $17 million per season, making him one of the highest-paid NFL analysts in TV history.
