Dak Prescott is in a world of pain as the Dallas Cowboys were knocked out of the Super Bowl run by the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional playoffs on Sunday night. Fans and analysts have been criticizing Prescott for his poor performance, which cost the Cowboys the NFC Championship game.

The 49ers got the upper hand in a slow-going game as they defeat Dallas 19-12. The Cowboys’ defense was top-notch and kept the team alive until the very end. But as they say, a great defense can’t overcome a bad quarterback.

Prescott had another one of his patented bad performances and he threw for 206 yards for one touchdown and two interceptions, both of which came in the redzone. Fans on social media roasted him, lifelong Cowboys fan Skip Bayless threw Prescott’s jersey in the dustbin, and all the other things which have become a tradition as Dallas loses in the playoffs year after year.

While it’s understandable for fans to be upset with their quarterback, the league has never seen an organization tweet about their quarterback’s poor performance. Until now! The Dallas Cowboys’ Twitter handle wrote: “Dak Prescott gave away the ball twice in the narrow loss to the 49ers, in a matchup the Cowboys had a chance to win if they didn’t again generate self-inflicted wounds.”

This unprofessional behavior from the Cowboys angered former NFL head coach Herman Edwards. Appearing on ESPN’s “This Just In” on Monday, Edwards expressed his disdain for the team. “I will say this … it’s unfortunate. It really is when you think about somebody in the organization. You’re entitled to your opinion, but this thing is called team,” Edwards said.

Herman Edwards, 68, was the former head coach of the New York Jets and the Kansas City Chiefs who did not appreciate the Cowboys for pointing fingers at Prescott who took responsibility for his performance. Edwards added, “When you pick out a certain individual to say you want to lay the blame on him, personally to me, I don’t believe in that. I just don’t, that’s not how I’m built. This is a little bit of the Dallas Cowboys’ problem. It’s always someone else’s fault. Let me place the blame on this one person ’cause it’s not about us as a football team.’”

While Dak Prescott did turn in a below-average performance, it’s not entirely his fault. Some bad decisions were taken by the coaches, which proved fatal for them. When the game was tied 9-9 in the third quarter, head coach Mike McCarthy decided to punt the ball from the 49ers’ 40-yard line even though they had successfully converted on fourth down twice in the game.

After running back Tony Pollard went down, Ezekiel Elliott failed to set up and get the running game going as he ran for just 26 yards on 10 carries. The last drive of the game where Elliott lined up as the center and all the offensive linemen were spread out with the receivers with no protection for Prescott can also be called into question. There was a lot of blame to go around. But everyone is just blaming Prescott for the loss and this tweet from the team just shows them in a bad light.
