The Carolina Panthers have parted ways with Head Coach Frank Reich just 11 games into his first season with the team. Owner David Tepper arrived at this decision after he was sick of seeing the team continue to have yet another losing season.
Frank Reich was hired after Matt Rhule‘s three-year period of disappointment where he went 11-27 and etched his name in the Panthers’ history books by becoming the second-worst HC in the team’s history.
Little did he know, his successor would end up in a worse position than him, as Frank Reich won just one game this season. This is despite the team ending up with Bryce Young, the first pick in this year’s NFL Draft. Reich’s departure signals the never-ending plight of Panthers’ fans who continue to be disappointed by the team’s performance.
Reich was never able to get things rolling with this team. The Panthers overlooked their interim coach for last season, Steve Wilks, who managed to get the team to finish the 2022 NFL season with a 7-10 record. This is yet another instance wherein an interim coach has performed better when put in the driver’s seat of the team compared to a new coach hired from outside the organization.
Frank Reich’s term as the HC of the Panthers will go down as the worst in team history
ESPN’s Ian Rapoport reported the firing of Reich and has stated that special teams coordinator Chris Tabor will now finish the season off for the Panthers in the capacity of interim head coach. Tabor has served as a head coach for one game in 2020 while he was on the Chicago Bears. He lost the game 33-22 but this time, he could have a different impact on the team.
The Carolina Panthers announced that former Detroit Lions coach Jim Caldwell will come onboard in the capacity of a special advisor to offensive coordinator Thomas Brown, who will handle the offensive play calling now that Reich is out.
This move comes after the Panthers’ horrific season despite having talent on this roster. It has become a matter of concern for the team as Bryce Young, is struggling in the NFL, he has had 9 TDs and 8 INTs so far while C.J. Stroud, the 2nd overall pick, has left him biting the dust as he is well on his way to establishing himself as a superstar in this league.

Carolina Panthers will need to revamp their front office and management. The team has just gone down since 2015 when it managed to make the Super Bowl. After Cam Newton and Ron Rivera, the team has had no stability at the quarterback position and now, it appears that the curse is extending to the post of HC as well.
