The Pittsburgh Steelers got a much-needed victory against the Cincinnati Bengals and did so in commanding fashion. It was the perfect Christmas gift for Mike Tomlin & Co. but the team’s 34-11 victory was much sweeter and meant significantly more for one person on the Steelers’.

George Pickens, the team’s wideout, ended the game with 195 yards and 2 touchdowns on 4 receptions. He was having one of the toughest weeks after he was being blasted by the media and fans for showing reluctance to block the defense to enable Jaylen Warren, the team’s RB, to score.

That was his biggest takeaway from everything that has transpired in the past week. He could not have come up with a much more short and sweet response.

George Pickens made a statement with his performance against the Bengals

Following Pickens’ performance, the Head Coach of the Steelers, Mike Tomlin, had to chime in to give the wideout his props.

Man, he made some splash plays that was needed. His pedigree showed, no doubt.

He dubbed Pickens’ performance this week as “appropriate” for everything that he has had to go through.

The reason for the backlash was Pickens’ block could have led to Jaylen Warren converting the play to a touchdown. However, he ended up falling just a yard short, and when one looks at the play on repeat, the wide receiver just stood there doing nothing, which reflected badly on him.

To make matters worse, his reasoning for not blocking on the play infuriated fans because he stated reluctance over fear of risking injury. Nevertheless, props to George Pickens for having a great comeback game!
