Brock Purdy has been a revelation for the San Francisco 49ers and was their lifeline last season. Mr Irrelevant was picked up as the 199th pick of the NFL draft and was a 3rd choice QB for the 49ers.

However, when given the chance, Purdy surpassed all expectations and led his team to a glorious playoff campaign. However, in the NFC championship game against the Eagles, the young QB picked up a massive injury.

Since then, the QB has been focused on recovery and it was rumored that he would make a comeback by next season. However, according to NFL reporter Ian Rapoport, 49ers fans can rejoice as their favourite QB can start from week 1 itself.

“It does sound like he’s doing well,” NFL insider Ian Rapoport said Friday on the Pat McAfee Show. “[He’s been throwing] a couple of times a week, and based on what he did last year, him coming in, if he’s healthy … if he is fully cleared, good to go, no restrictions by, I think, now it’d probably be late August, that would be really good.”

According to Rapoport, Purdy will be in the training camp by mid-August and is a strong contender to lead the team when they face the Pittsburgh Steelers for the week 1 matchup.

Brock Purdy has firmly established himself as the starter for the San Francisco 49ers. The fans have also backed the QB in his pursuit from Mr. Irrelevant to the undisputed starter of the team.

However, the 49ers still have some contingency plans in place. If Purdy fails to recover by the start of the next NFL season, then the starting job will either land to Sam Darnold or Trey Lance.

Darnold was traded in this year to replace the veteran Jimmy Garoppolo. While HC Kyle Shanahan would prefer Purdy for the week 1 matchup. he has been really happy with his improvement.

“He’s right on pace,” head coach Kyle Shanahan said this week. “I think he throws three times a week. I do not sit and watch those. It’s part of his process of getting back, and he’s continuing right on the track he’s always been on. No setbacks, and it’s been very good so far.”

The 49ers are looking to challenge for the NFC title next season and Brock Purdy will be highly essential to that. They have a great offense and would require a competent QB at the helm of things.
